Excellent, hard work from the New York Times. If you’re wondering what the assault on the Capitol on Jan. 6 was like, this will clarify for you.

Hat tip to Balloon Juice commenters for the title. Eric Levitz at New York Magazine seems to like that title too. He lays out details of what’s in the bill. Biden’s COVID-Relief Bill Is a Big F**king Deal • The average household in the bottom quintile of America’s economic ladder will see its annual income rise by more than 20 percent. • A family of four with one working parent and one unemployed one will have $12,460 more in government benefits to help them make ends meet. • The poorest single mothers in America will receive at least $3,000 more … Continue reading →
It’s official…
I endorse Joe Biden! And so do all these politicians, including many of my most admired like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. Not that I expect to swing a lot of votes here. But Mr. J and I turned our ballots in today at an official Colorado dropbox (the local library). This is what that looks like in practice: pic.twitter.com/losap4SsgI — The Sparrow Project (@sparrowmedia) July 15, 2020 A bit more information “Who are these federal officers…?

I was in high school in Toledo, Ohio, when this happened. 50 years ago today. Tin soldiers and Nixon coming. We’re finally on our own. This summer I hear the drumming, four dead in Ohio. Gotta get down to it, soldiers are cutting us down. Should have been done long ago. What if you knew her and found her dead on the ground? Jerry Casale, founding member of the band Devo, was a student at Kent State during the protests. He has written an essay on the events of that day for Rolling Stone. Hat tip to Amanda Marcotte for … Continue reading →
