These things are all connected

Fierce Planet Posted on July 1, 2022 by jnfrJuly 3, 2022

I think Laurie Penny said this well in her substack column. You should read the whole thing. But realize that most if not all of the crises happening in the world today are the outcome of the same problem: the violent response of a white patriarchal order which sees its power waning.

They do not care whether the planet lives or dies

Fierce Planet Posted on June 21, 2022 by jnfrJune 21, 2022

Stalling on climate change action is the deliberate policy of the Republican Party, and has been for a very long time. But their drive to end environmental regulation goes much further than climate change. A case being decided right now in the Supreme Court, West Virginia vs EPA, is likely to destroy the ability of the US government to regulate the environment, particularly in any way that might slow the fossil fuel industry in its march to destroy the planet. This is one of several Supreme Court cases that will be presented to us this week and next, and this … Continue reading →

Remembering January 6, 2021

Fierce Planet Posted on June 6, 2022 by jnfrJune 6, 2022

And for the third time, with the hearings coming up. ________________________________________________________________________ I have posted this in the past. It is by the New York Times. Watch and remember what really happened that day.

Trump is a traitor

Fierce Planet Posted on March 30, 2022 by jnfrMarch 30, 2022

His only concern is for himself. "Donald Trump is mentally unwell in a way that makes him interested exclusively in what benefits him." CNN White House correspondent @JohnJHarwood reacts to a new interview where Donald Trump asks Putin for intel on the Bidens. The Jan. 6th Investigative Committee

Fierce Planet Posted on March 29, 2022 by jnfrMarch 29, 2022

I really look forward to the public hearings this spring. They certainly have plenty to investigate about that day and all that led up to it (gift link, no paywall). While we wait, this is worth listening to. If you haven’t seen @jamie_raskin drop a massive truth bomb as the 1/6 Committee voted on contempt charges for Trump’s stooges today… Buckle up: pic.twitter.com/IGIQZYpYzz — Nick Knudsen 🇺🇸🇺🇦 (@NickKnudsenUS) March 29, 2022

The important point

Fierce Planet Posted on October 16, 2021 by jnfrOctober 16, 2021

This should be the main headline on every news site, from now until the planet burns. But it’s not of course, and that’s a shame. At least we have Sludge to point out the truth for us.

The election was not stolen

Fierce Planet Posted on May 12, 2021 by jnfrMay 12, 2021

Liz Cheney states it all clearly here. And for doing so consistently since the insurrection on Jan. 6, the GQP is going to toss her out of her leadership position, and replace her with a more obedient Congresswoman, Elise Stephanik. I would oppose all of Liz Cheney’s policy preferences, I am sure of it. Someone on cable news last night described Stephanik as “more liberal” than Cheney, which is a strange thing to say about any Republican today. But her voting record is clearly more moderate than Cheney’s. Nonetheless, Cheney insists on reality, on the rule of law, and believes … Continue reading →

Fierce Planet Posted on May 6, 2021 by jnfrMay 6, 2021

Let’s start with this bit from Chris Hayes last night in the intro to his show. I’ve transcribed his words below, because I think they are important. If you can find his follow-up discussion with Stuart Stevens it’s worth listening to, as they go deeper into the very anti-democratic moves of the Republican Party today. Of course, now Donald Trump is no longer in office. He lost badly. Republicans lost both houses of Congress under his watch. He spends his days entertaining guests at Mar-a-lago. But Kevin McCarthy is still standing, the last Young Gun, because he is still debasing … Continue reading →
