Aftermath of Mariupol

Fierce Planet Posted on June 11, 2022 by jnfrJuly 13, 2022

Mariupol was turned into a cemetery. Mass burials on city outskirts, graves in front of residential buildings, thousands left under the rubble. Death toll is unimaginable, number of lives ruined is uncountable. Russia’s main export is death & destruction.pic.twitter.com/i8tikLyfpW — Oleksiy Sorokin (@mrsorokaa) June 11, 2022

Fierce Planet Posted on June 3, 2022 by jnfrJune 3, 2022

Disaster phase

Fierce Planet Posted on March 12, 2022 by jnfrMarch 12, 2022

Mariupol is in a “disaster phase now,” Doctors Without Borders emergency coordinator says An emergency coordinator for Doctors Without Borders told CNN that the humanitarian situation in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol is deteriorating by the day…. “They’re using snow and rain water, they’re breaking into heating systems to access the water in heating systems, but for many, water has already run out and so has the food for many people. The only people left with food are those who have stocks that they’re rationing,” he said from Vinnytsia, Ukraine…. Staff on the ground in Mariupol have told Wade that … Continue reading →

What’s happening in Mariupol…

Fierce Planet Posted on March 11, 2022 by jnfrMarch 11, 2022

is at the very least an attempt at genocide, and may yet become one entirely. 400,000 civilians are surrounded by Russian forces, have little to no food and water left, and are under constant assault by Russian bombs and artillery. This article at the Guardian has before/after photo pairs that let you see the destruction around Mariupol. I do not want the US and NATO to go to war with Russia, but something must be done about the … Continue reading →

20 years of sorrow, here we are

Fierce Planet Posted on August 15, 2021 by jnfrAugust 15, 2021

My heart has broken. Like most vets, I left part of me in AFG. Later we’ll debate the failures of last 20 yrs, but today our mission is clear: hold the airport as long as possible and get ALL U.S. citizens and as many Afghan partners out as we can. We will debate the rest later — Rep. Jason Crow (@RepJasonCrow) August 15, 2021 ETA: And listen to John Cole too.
