Orban’s type of patriarchal government—anti-gay, anti-feminist, anti-multiculturalism—is the government they wish to impose on the rest of us. Don’t look away. Viktor Orban is an authoritarian who trafficks in antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories, embraces antisemitic imagery, and engages in racist rhetoric. Republicans welcoming him with a standing ovation at #CPAC is all you need to know about the danger of today's @GOP. https://t.co/kvtoTOBXOo — Jewish Dems (@USJewishDems) August 5, 2022 ETA: Laura Jedeed has more.

You might notice I’ve added a new page for abortion resources. So far I’ve only added the links I’d surfaced when Roe v. Wade was murdered. Over the next week or two I’ll add in a few lines about the various organizations, their services, note locations (particularly which orgs are outside the US). I intend to keep the info up to date and online indefinitely. If you know of orgs that aren’t included but should be, let me know. Meanwhile, the free states where abortion is still protected are ramping up services as they must now embrace an increased wave … Continue reading →
As I said earlier, it is important not to accept this Roe decision as normal, or as status quo. The Christian Nationalists have no intention of stopping here, no intention of letting those of us still living in free states live our lives as we wish. They intend to stomp on us all unless we conform to their religious dictates—no feminists, no queers, no history or discussion of the lives of people of color, certainly no movement forward on issues of equality and justice for workers, families, or those who live in poverty. This New York Times article reports on … Continue reading →

Seeing the way Republicans treated her yesterday was disgusting, disturbing, horrible. That she sat calmly and responded with dignity was no surprise, but still beautiful to see. At least we had some moments like this one. "I would tell them to persevere." Giving advice to young people, Judge Jackson emotionally tells the story of being given crucial encouragement by a woman she did not know while a student at Harvard. pic.twitter.com/XmvrY95Fvk — The Recount (@therecount) March 23, 2022 And also this very passionate moment … Continue reading →
