Russia must be stopped
Ukraine has an absolute right to exist, and to defend itself from Russian aggression. I want to be clear where I stand on that. The war on Ukraine is entirely Putin’s doing and could stop in an instant if Putin simply packed up his troops and went home.
Now that it’s clear Putin’s attempt to overtake Kyiv has failed there are fewer dramatic images to show, and the long slog of war in eastern Ukraine near Donetsk will clearly be ongoing, perhaps for a very long time. This isn’t a subject I feel competent to discuss, for the most part, so here are some links to other blogs where I go for analysis and information.
DailyKos has a regular series of Ukraine updates which follow the shifting battlegrounds in detail. The updates by Markos himself I find especially useful, as he served in the U.S. military and his background there gives a lot of insight.
Balloon Juice has had some server issues lately, which are mostly resolved now though they may have lost some of their archives. Still, their Ukraine updates by Adam Silverman are detailed and regularly posted.
More sporadically, a couple of folks at Lawyers, Guns, and Money post about the war. Robert Farley is one of them, and he also has a deep understanding of military weapons and strategies. Cheryl Rofer posts there, and also at her own blog, Nuclear Diner.
Along with whatever you can get from the Washington Post or New York Times, these folks should keep you informed.
