I  came up with these interesting results*:<\/p>\n<p><center><\/p>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Total votes by party<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Democrats<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">14,950,189<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Republicans<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">9,018,365<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Votes for top candidates<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Clinton<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">7,209,286<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Obama<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">7,133,917<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>McCain<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">3,571,027<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Romney<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">2,924,949<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Huckabee<\/td>\n<td align=\"right\">1,776,756<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>So all three top Republicans got about 15% more votes, <i>combined<\/i>, than the single top Democratic candidate. Looking good out there.<\/p>\n<p><font size=\"-1\">* Votes are not complete totals; states ranged from 93% to 99% counted, and numbers may have changed since I dumped the data. I only summed up states where both Dems and Repubs had votes yesterday.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><P><b>UPDATE:<\/b> I wanted to save this list of upcoming primaries, and this is as good a place as any.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><font size=\"-1\"><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I took some figures off of the USA Today election results page, and poured them into my spreadsheet.
