Offically the Worst

In the middle of what already seemed to be the worst week ever, everything has officially gotten much bleaker. Tbogg, we are all so sorry for this loss to your family and to all of us. And many virtual hugs to the much-beloved Beckham.

Oops

Rebuilt the template and no posts on the front page suddenly! Guess it's been too long since I updated.

I'm fine and all. I was out of town and otherwise very busy.

A World of Books

I saw this at Andrew Sullivan's, and had to save it here, so I could watch it again and again.

Not Politics

But I love this singer and her song.

How I hope that you forget about your MySpace
I hope it slips completely from your mind
And I hope it stays up long enough
for the next generation to find

And I hope that it embarrasses your children
I hope their bratty friends all forward it around
And I hope that you forget your password
So you cannot take it down

She also plays Toxic on her ukelele.

UPDATE: Note to Bird Rescue people - it's great if you want your video credited, so you take down illegit copies, but you shouldn't replace the bad ones with a longer, less interesting video. It just makes you look dumb.

Friday Funny

From the Washington Post's Achenblog, on last night's Republican debate:

Let's face it: Not only are most of these guys completely obscure, they also look exactly the same. They're aging Caucasian men with jowls. Several of them are fighting for a starting position on the All-Jowl Team.

Except, of course, Mitt Romney, with his perfect, comic-book jawline. He looks almost aerodynamic, like something manufactured by Boeing.

Having one guy without jowls is what the Republican party leadership calls "diversity."

I'm not ready to make nice

I'm not ready to back down. I'm still mad as hell and I don't have time to go round and round and round.
It's too late to make it right. I probably wouldn't if I could. Cause I'm mad as hell, I can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should.
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby, with no regrets. And I don't mind saying it's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her daughter that she oughta hate a perfect stranger.

This song by the Dixie Chicks sure comes at just the right moment for me. You should see the music video; it's available via bittorent. And (h/t Atrios), you can see them perform the song on Letterman over at YouTube.

UPDATE: Crooks and Liars has a downloadable version of the Letterman appearance.

UPDATE: The Dixie Chicks appeared on 60 Minutes on May 14, in an interview with Steve Kroft. The story at the link has some video clips as well, talking about "the comment" and what's happened since.
