Democrats: Heads Up!

Listen to Greg Sargent, please.

The choice for Dems: Either you get a thousand news articles about the new law, or a thousand news articles about how hapless and ineffective you are.

Oh, Democrats

Just caught up with The Daily Show from last night, and Jon's rant about the Democrats really speaks for me and my vast frustration.

Netroots Nation in Colorado

Tomorrow my husband and I will be attending our local Netroots Nation gathering, a one-day conference to discuss progressive politics in Colorado. I'll try to take some notes and some pictures so I can report back afterwards.

Change.gov

Hurry on over to the new web site for Obama's transition team, if you haven't yet. For one thing, it's very nice to look at this:

Change.gov

The site's informative too, with pages on the issues Obama plans to tackle first, a tab for sending in your own thoughts on issues and your stories from the campaign, and also a tab for job applications for the new administration. It feels very good having a President-elect who knows the importance of communication.

Today we begin the work

Obama in Colorado

He's so funny, and he's also right. Change isn't a slogan, it's about substance.

Community Organizers

These are my kind of people.

I know you've heard the saying, "Don't mourn, organize." Just do it.

Obama and Biden on 60 Minutes

Obama and Biden were interviewed on 60 Minutes last night. They look and feel very comfortable with each other, and I think they make a great team.

Part 1.

Part 2.

Michelle

I loved watching this. She is so smart, warm, and elegant. I'll be proud to have her as our First Lady.

No Organized Party

You have to love the opening sentence of this Politico article, Dems Seek to Avoid Meltdown.

Those people who believe all problems have solutions may be unfamiliar with the inner workings of the Democratic Party.

The article is about the upcoming Rules Committee meeting to settle the questions still surrounding the Michigan and Florida delegations to the Democratic convention this year. Good luck to them, I wouldn't want to have to make that call.

Dems Rising

From Gallup Polls:

GOP Identification in 2007 Lowest in Last Two Decades

The percentage of Americans who identified as Republicans in 2007 is the lowest of any of the 20 calendar years since 1988 that Gallup has conducted its interviewing primarily by telephone. An average of 27.7% of Americans identified as Republicans, based on more than 26,000 Gallup interviews in 2007. The previous low in Republican identification was 28.1% in 1999....

Caucus Training

I went to a caucus training last night, held by the JeffCo Dems. The Colorado caucuses will be held on Feb. 5th, and this was to prepare new people for the paperwork and organization of the caucuses. We had to do math! I am glad I had my Palm Pilot with me.

The meeting room was packed, must have been 150 people there - I couldn't quite tell as there were standees all the way out the door. I was kind of on the youngish side of the crowd, which surprised me, as I am not youngish at all (54). The regulars were quite pleased to have such a full house. I think the Democrats in Colorado aren't used to being such a majority yet, and of course it's growing. Everyone's excited about the Convention which will be in Denver later this year.

The funniest moment was when we were talking about the resolutions to consider for the party platform, and the chairlady was using the example of impeaching George Bush, and when she was explaining how to do the vote, of course, as soon as she said "Do you want to impeach George Bush?" the whole room shouted "Yes!".

It was nice to be among my people.

Biden

Watching the debate tonight, I have to say to Joe Biden that the very definition of insensitive is pushing a mining widow to one side in order to argue with another candidate about Pakistan.

That's stupid shit, and just plain mean.
